Athletic Booster Auction 2015
The Siuslaw Athletic Booster Club put on its annual fund-raiser Saturday night, August 1st. According to club President Jack Butler, the dinner and auction drew just around 200 people to the Florence Events Center.
“This year’s Tailgate theme was a lot of fun, with guests showing off their school spirit”, Butler said. “We never are sure what to expect, but we ended up bringing in right around $24,000.”
“Our Florence community is exceedingly generous, especially when it comes to supporting Siuslaw athletics and our student athletes.” The boosters teamed up with the Elks to add a new twist – ‘buy this for your school’. $500 in sports supplies were donated by the Elks, purchased by guests and donated directly to the sports programs. “It was a win-win”, said Butler.”
“One of the many highlights of the night included the ‘dessert dash’ sponsored by Banner Bank, featuring desserts made by Creative Cakes by Chris. The highest bidding table won the first choice of the desserts with a bid of $365. This portion of the event raised almost $2,900 for the club.” Butler explained.
The main event of the evening, the live auction conducted by auctioneer Bob Sneddon, involved several big-ticket items, including 6 pairs of Nike running shoes, several vacation packages, U of O and OSU football and basketball tickets, golf packages, a paint and painter package, Tim McGraw concert tickets and Hotel Lucia accommodations, not to mention all the incredible items in the silent auction.
Butler credited the many club members, coaches, and school administrators for organizing the event. “It’s a real team effort” said Butler, “and we’re very thankful to everyone who participated to make this event so successful.”
